True To Africa

At a Glance

As a non-profit charity, our goal at TrueToAfrica is to empower vulnerable African children by enhancing their educational conditions and opportunities. Education is a gift that will never lose its value or be used up. In fact, education’s value only increases with time.

TrueToAfrica’s approach to our humanitarian work is unique, as we embrace the operating values of optimism, cooperation, sustainability, and volunteerism. We value our strategic relationship with Child2Youth Foundation, a local Ugandan organization that has essential local knowledge, mentors our team, and provides program consultations to ensure that our outreach is culturally appropriate, respectful and effective.

Daily Life Through a Child’s Eyes

TrueToAfrica works with our strategic local Ugandan partner, their social workers, village councils, and teachers to identify vulnerable children and orphans in need of education and humanitarian sponsorship. Sponsorship can begin at any age, and we commit to follow each child as far as their education journey takes them, whether to vocational school or university. The children choose career paths that fit their talents and interests!

The TrueToAfrica team visits the children at their school and homes during our annual trips to continue to build relationships, reinforce the importance of education, and follow and assess their academic progress. Throughout the year, local social workers care for the children as they deliver humanitarian items, conduct home checks, transport children to the health clinic as needed, help them write letters to their sponsors, and more.

In Ugandan culture, anyone who helps provide for a child is considered a parental figure, and the children are always so grateful for the generous support provided by TrueToAfrica sponsors. Below, we are excited to introduce you to a few of TrueToAfrica’s currently sponsored students: Vanessa, Anita, Elvis, Maria, and Sumaya. Watch their videos to see the everyday tasks and chores that young children in Uganda are responsible for at home.
