TRUE Africa 2024 Annual
Textbook Drive
We hope you will support Ugandan schools' academic transition by participating in our annual textbook drive. Providing these new books to schools is a big job, but it will have an enormous impact on the quality of Ugandan education. Please donate today and join our efforts to provide new curriculum to schools!
In Uganda, most students in the rural villages have no textbooks. TRUE Africa aims to provide textbooks for all sponsored students. Students in rural village schools that have access to textbooks perform academically higher than those without textbooks. We re-collect about 70% of the donated textbooks after each school year and add them to the school libraries.

Our team has been learning about the new curriculum in Uganda! The government of Uganda is working with Ugandan publishing companies, teachers, and authors to create a complete curriculum that aligns with their new educational standards. These resources will better prepare students for exams and facilitate a comprehensive education. However, the government is not providing the curriculum to the schools. The new textbooks must be purchased privately. Most rural schools cannot afford to purchase new textbooks, so we want to help schools obtain and implement these new resources.
This last summer, we spent time with the publishers to learn about the materials. Since our visit- we have worked hard to learn as many details as possible about the new curriculum roll-out. The new textbooks and resources are incredibly high-quality and relevant to life in Uganda. The reading material, descriptions, examples, and illustrations feature topics and settings that are familiar and meaningful to Ugandan students. These textbooks will significantly benefit all the teachers and students!
