Career Ambition: Nurse. Age: 15
Viola lives in Buyomba, a rural village in Buiwke District, Uganda and is a young woman who is determined to complete her schooling. This year, she is starting Primary 7 (7th grade) -- her last year of primary school. She is a very cheerful and social 15-year old young woman who is older for her grade level as she started late and, due to lack of fees, attended inconsistently. Since she was sponsored in 2011, she has been doing very well. Her previous sponsor can no longer continue; we have found one co-sponsor (to cover half) and she now needs one additional co-sponsor to help provide her education. She is a single HIV/Aids orphan as her father is deceased. Her mother is also HIV positive, and Viola lives with her grandmother. You’ll see from her photos that she has burn scars on her forehead from when she was a little girl and accidentally got too near the cooking fire. We have known her for almost 6 years and are thrilled to see her progress in both her education and in her social development. She is a leader at the school and the teachers often rely on her to help with the younger students.
